A new Granite 5 website for Sports Chaplaincy UK has boosted membership and donations in just a few months.

The organisation helps support, train and support chaplains, of which they are over 200 in the UK and Ireland. Sports chaplains provide spiritual and pastoral care to professional and amateur sports spanning Premier League football and horseracing to Rugby Union, Rugby League, Cricket and Athletics.

Sports Chaplaincy has recently rebranded and its new website is integral to the organisation, whose members will be assisting athletes at the 2012 Olympic Games in London this summer.

The site, developed and bespokely designed by Granite 5, runs on the popular WordPress platform. This cost-effective, easy-to-manage option has been customised with various plug-ins to offer:
• embedded YouTube videos
• a business directory
• a “find a chaplain” database so that users can locate a chaplain by sport or area
• a communications forum with log-in for trustees, chaplins and staff
• e-commerce functionality to take subscriptions online
• online donations

“In the fast moving industry of sport, we needed a website that we can adapt quickly and easily,” said Sports Chaplaincy UK Chief Executive Richard Gamble.

“Granite 5’s solution with WordPress has been perfect for us and has enabled us to increase membership by 10% and donations by 15% in the first three months.”
